Balkan Universities Association (BUA)

Balkan Universities Association (BUA) is a cooperation network that unites universities from the Balkan countries, with the aim of strengthening academic, scientific and cultural ties in the region. This association aims to create bridges of cooperation between higher education institutions, contributing to the sustainable development and the European integration process of the region.

The main objectives of the Balkan Universities Association (BUA) are:

  • Promoting academic and research cooperation between universities in the region;
  • Promoting mobility of students, academic and administrative staff;
  • Exchange of best practices and shared experiences in the field of higher education;
  • Organization of joint scientific activities, conferences and research projects;
  • Strengthening the role of Balkan universities within the framework of European and global developments.

The University of Tirana is an active part of BUA, contributing to joint projects and initiatives with other Balkan universities. UT held the presidency of BUA from June 2023 to June 2024, and during this period organized the conference "Balkans' European Integration Process: Promotion of Tourism in Balkans", fostering regional cooperation, exchange of experiences and promotion of higher education in the region.
Through this commitment, UT aims to increase regional cooperation, improve the quality of higher education, and create more opportunities for its students and academic staff.
