CMS UT – The University of Tirana's Collaboration with CERN

CMS UT represents the commitment of the University of Tirana to the CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) Collaboration at CERN, the international particle physics research organization headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The University of Tirana is an associate member of this collaboration. This commitment enables UT students, faculty, and researchers to participate in international experiments and projects in the field of advanced physics and natural sciences.

The main objectives of CMS UT – University of Tirana Collaboration with CERN are:

  • Involving UT students and academic staff in international experiments and research projects;
  • Promoting the exchange of knowledge and experiences with the most prestigious international research institutions;
  • Promoting the development of research and technological capacities at the University of Tirana;
  • Supporting UT's innovation and active participation in the global particle physics community;
  • Increasing the international visibility of UT in the field of natural sciences and technology;

Through its participation in CMS CERN, the University of Tirana provides unique opportunities for students and academic staff to gain experience in international research projects, contributing to the development of higher education and scientific research in Albania and the region. Every year, three academic staff members from the Department of Physics actively participate in CMS collaboration activities and experiments, strengthening the scientific capacities of the UT and increasing the international profile of the institution.
