Today is a special day for all you seekers of knowledge who start the new academic year 2016-2017 with enthusiasm and full of energy. I would like to wish a warm welcome to all the new students enrolled in our faculties, who have trusted us by choosing the University of Tirana, just as I would like to wish a good return to the existing students in this lively and beautiful university that we have created.
I am glad to see you gathered here today, motivated, and ready to start the beautiful academic journey in the world of knowledge that awaits you. I am extremely excited when I see that the number of students who choose the University of Tirana increases every year and I am proud that the best high school students of the country come to us. For the academic year 2016-2017, for the first time in the First Cycle of studies, 5400 students will study in 36 study programs. In the second cycle, 5585 students will be enrolled in 90 study programs of the second cycle. In total, 2016-2017 thousand students will study at the University of Tirana for the Academic Year 25-30.

I am honored to cooperate with all of you. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for raising the name of the University of Tirana and I am convinced that you will create a better future for Albania and for generations to come.
Dear students! Our university will resize the student spaces. Our goal is to complement student life not only with their academic and professional training but also with the development of their interpersonal skills and talents.
Creating spaces where students can unfold and develop their talents will increase their motivation and academic performance, as well as interaction with each other. The contribution of the Career Center so far in this direction has confirmed the interest of students, reflecting the increasing number of their participation in the services and activities offered, as well as the employment opportunities that these centers offer.
I also want to inform you that the University of Tirana is implementing a large number of agreements with European universities within the framework of the Erasmus program+ for student exchange. With the beginning of this new academic year, we will soon have a series of agreements, where a large number of students from the University of Tirana will have the opportunity to benefit from European experiences. These students, based on these bilateral agreements, will develop the learning process for one semester at sound universities in Europe such as: University of Graz in Austria, Humboldt University-Berlin; Lund University in Sweden; University of Madrid in Spain, and many, many others in countries like Luxembourg, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Greece, etc.
In terms of student life, much remains to be done, confronting us with many challenges such as: creating and adapting new facilities, promoting and rewarding different talents within UT, encouraging the involvement of students in forums and organizations various student activities, as well as finding resources for financial support of their cultural, social, sports initiatives, etc. We remain determined to consolidate our support in enriching student life, to create an environment that enables the identification and development of young people's potential.
The University of Tirana offers a high-level teaching process and responds to the demands of the time, as well as contributing strongly to the challenges of higher education, Albanian society and the sustainable development of Albania. With us you will find the necessary infrastructure as well as a rich and healthy student life. We will create spaces where you can reveal and develop your talents, increasing motivation and academic performance, as well as interaction with each other.
The presence of the Minister in this ceremony of the beginning of the academic year for the University of Tirana is an indicator of the government's appreciation and support for the development of higher education.
