In support of the law no. 80/2015 "On higher education and scientific research in institutions of higher education in the Republic of Albania", the University of Tirana, as an institution of higher education, operates in the field of education, scientific research, creative and professional activities.
As mentioned above, the functions and duties of the University of Tirana are:
- To provide quality education in accordance with national and international standards;
- ensure the granting of scientific degrees, academic titles and other scientific qualifications;
- provide the necessary conditions and infrastructure for study and scientific research;
- to encourage the development of knowledge and applied scientific research in government, industry, commerce and the community;
- to provide opinions, thoughts, etc., on issues important to the community;
- to award prizes in the field of higher education and scientific research;
- to provide facilities and resources for awarding scholarships or support to students in need;
- to provide facilities and resources for the well-being of academic staff, academic assistants and administrative staff of the University;
- to cooperate with local and foreign institutions regarding education, scientific research, creative and professional activities;
- to create for students and teachers with disabilities the conditions to follow all learning activities, the examination of knowledge in accordance with the study program they are following, as well as access to libraries, computer rooms, laboratories, sports facilities and services others, which are offered to students by the institution, in accordance with a reasonable adjustment, which should not constitute an excessive financial burden for the University;
- to participate in public and private activities and in civil circulation, inside or outside the country, in the exercise of functions and in the realization of its legal goals, etc.
