The University of Tirana (UT) in cooperation with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, organized the Opening Ceremony of the Confucius Institute at UT, on Monday, November 18, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., in the premises of the "Liria" Building, Student City . Our country has joined 96 other countries in the world that have opened such an institute.

The Confucius Institute-UT is engaged in the promotion of the Chinese language and other resources for studying this language.

Participants in this activity were: Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, Sh. TZ Edi Rama, Minister of Education and Sports, Mrs. Lindita Nikolla, Rector of UT-Prof. Dr. Dhori Kule, Rector of "Beijing Foreign Studies University", Prof. Dr. Han Zhen, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Sh. TZ Ye Hao, as well as other representatives of these institutes in the world, Rectors of other public universities, representatives of Chambers of Commerce, deans and leaders from all faculties, lecturers and students of UT.

Its main purpose is to promote the Chinese language to contribute to the development of multiculturalism. Language is a bridge for cultural exchange, so learning it will allow Albanian youth to understand Chinese culture, as well as motivate their interests to study in China. The institute will be an added value for the university not only in terms of promoting the Chinese language and culture, but also in the organization of various activities, such as: open lectures, seminars, international academic conferences, etc., as well as the organization of various activities covering culture, history, philosophy, politics, art and similar topics of interest.
