On Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 13.00:XNUMX p.m., in the Hall of the Academic Senate of the Rectorate of the University of Tirana, the ceremony of awarding the title "Doctor Honoris Causa" to Mr. Fatmir Limaj was organized with the motivation: "For special contribution to the issue national, the creation and construction of the state of Kosovo, as well as the strengthening of institutions and respect for the rule of law, as a guarantee for the future of the country." This ceremony was attended by Mr. Ilir Meta, Speaker of the Assembly of Albania, Prof. Dr. Dhori Kule, Rector of the University of Tirana, Mr. Lulzim Basha, Mayor of the Municipality of Tirana, Mr. Gani Veselaj, the representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Albania, deputies, senators of the UT, many personalities from the field of politics, education and other fields from Albania and Kosovo as well as other guests.
The ceremony took place in a warm atmosphere and deep mutual respect. Mr. Fatmir Limaj gave an emotional speech that involved all the participants.
A bit of his Biography: Fatmir Limaj was born on February 4, 1971 in Kosovo, he is an Albanian politician, jurist and former fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army. As well as former Minister of Transport and Post-Telecommunications during the years 2007 - 2010. Participation in KLA At the age of 16, he started dealing with the then illegal movements. He is one of the founders of the former KLA. In the actions of the Serbian police to arrest the KLA activists, in 1996 his brother Demir Limaj was arrested while he himself was forced to go abroad (to Switzerland). In 1997, he returned to Kosovo to be there when the KLA would appear publicly. He was appointed as Commander of Brigade 121 - "Kumanova" and was one of the political and military leaders of the KLA. He was always active in the battles fought by his brigade. Almost in every battle his brigade triumphed, as in the battles in Llapushnik, Rahovec, Duhël, Malishevë, Theranë, etc. Political Career After the end of the war, Fatmir Limaj was announced as the vice president of the PDK, head of the parliamentary group of the PDK and deputy. In the 2007 elections, which PDK won, Fatmir Limaj came out as the second most voted person in Kosovo right after Hashim Thaçi. 
Fatmir Limaj was elected as the Minister of Transport and Post-Telecommunications of Kosovo. During his 3-year term at the head of the Ministry of Transport, 1300 km of roads were laid. He also signed the contract for the Nation's Road: Morin - Prizren - Prishtina - Merdare, which is connected to the finished part of the highway in Albania. 
In the early elections held on December 12, Fatmir Limaj was the second most voted person in PDK after its leader. Mr. Limaj has been a member of the Assembly of Kosovo since his first legislature. He is currently the Chairman of the "Initiative for Kosovo" Party.
