We lost a valuable researcher and lecturer!
Education and the Albanian academic world lost a precious friend today. Prof. Dr. Alex LUARASI, could not win the battle with Covid 19, passing away.
Prof. Dr. Aleks LUARASI was born in the village of Luaras in Cologne on March 22, 1941. He completed his pre-university education in Korça, his higher studies at the Faculty of Law of UT (1963). From 1972 to 2002, he worked for 30 years at the Faculty of Law of UT as a teacher of the courses Philosophy of Law and History of the State and Law in Albania. During this period, the department and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law were responsible.
He is the author of the monographs "Albanian state and law in the era of Skënderbeu" (1998); "Studies on Albanian customary law - Family relations" (2001); author of the university texts "Legal acts for the history of the state and law in Albania (2014), "History of the state and law in Albania" (2018), as well as a series of articles and reports.
He was Secretary General of the Council of Europe (1991) and a member of the Venice Commission at the Council of Europe (1992 - 1998). He is the founder of the "Luarasi University Press" Publishing House (1998) and the "Luarasi" University (2003).
In 2018, he was decorated with the title "Grand Master" by the President of the Republic, with the motivation "Pioneer of Education", for his contribution to the formation and consolidation of the modern university system in our country.
