Foreign Students and Staff at the University of Tirana (Erasmus+ ICM Program)

Mobility management

The International Relations Office (IRO) of the University of Tirana is responsible for managing all incoming and outgoing mobilities (students and staff) within the framework of the Erasmus+ ICM program (KA171).

To carry out incoming mobilities at the University of Tirana, an official nomination from the Erasmus+ partner university is required, which must be sent by email to the following address: iro@unitir.edu.al.

The University of Tirana reserves the right to grant final admission to the nominated student or staff.

Documentation for foreign students

(Students nominated by a UT partner university)

Nominated students must prepare and submit the following documents:

  • Learning Agreements, which is sent for approval to the relevant unit in the UT. (Download the document here).
  • If you will change subjects during mobility, the document must be completed. Learning Agreement During Mobility
  • Copy of passport (first page with personal data).
  • Language certificate (minimum level B1) in the language of the study program.

Additional information for foreign students

After approval of the document Learning Agreements from the relevant unit at UT, the student must initiate procedures for:

📌 Careful: Foreign nationals staying in Albania for more than 3 months must apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days of entering the territory of the Republic of Albania. IRO provides assistance during the application process at the Regional Directorate of Border and Migration.

Documents for applying for a Residence Permit

  • Residence permit application form.
  • Four photographs (47 mm x 36 mm).
  • Rental contract or proof of accommodation.
  • Criminal record certificate (legalized) from the country of origin.
  • Certificate of receipt of the Erasmus+ grant, issued by the university of origin, specifying the relevant grant amount.
  • Acceptance letter or invitation from the University of Tirana.
  • Health insurance valid for the entire period of stay in Albania.

Documentation for foreign personnel

(Staff from a UT partner university)

  • Mobility Plan (for teaching or training).
  • CV or short biography.
  • Language certificate (minimum level B2) in the language in which the exchange will take place.

Personnel from EU countries do not need a visa for stays shorter than 3 months.

It is recommended that mobility documents be prepared and sent at least 45 days before the start of the mobility.
