Albanian Abstract:

This study deals with the translation of children's literature with a special focus on the analysis of translations of Gianni Rodari's works into Albanian. The translation of children's literature represents a special field within translation and comparative studies, where in addition to challenges of a linguistic and cultural nature, educational, cognitive, and ideological aspects are also intertwined that influence the way the works are adapted and interpreted for the intended audience. In this context, the main purpose of the study is to examine the way in which Albanian translators have adapted Rodari's works for young readers, analyzing the issues related to the translation process, the strategies followed, as well as the ideological and cultural influences that have shaped the translations during different historical periods. The study highlights the linguistic and cultural aspects that influence the translation of children's works, where translators face challenges such as preserving humor, rhythm, language games and the use of cultural references of the source and target languages. The study also highlights the need for a more structured and critical approach to the translation of children's literature in Albania and the importance of developing comparative studies that contribute to the enrichment of literary criticism and Albanian translation culture.

Keywords: children's literature, reception, linguistic and cultural aspects, issues and strategies, ideological influences, visual text.

Abstract English

This study examines the translation of children's literature, with a particular focus on the Albanian translations of Gianni Rodari's works. As a distinct field within translation and comparative studies, the translation of children's literature intertwines linguistic and cultural challenges with educational, cognitive, and ideological factors that shape how works are adapted and interpreted for their target audience. In this context, the study primarily explores how Albanian translators have adapted Rodari's works for young readers by analyzing translation-related issues, the strategies used, and the ideological and cultural influences that have shaped these translations across different historical periods. The research highlights the linguistic and cultural factors affecting the translation of children's literature, particularly the challenges translators face in preserving humor, rhythm, wordplay, and cultural references in both the source and target languages. Furthermore, the study underscores the need for a more structured and critical approach to the translation of children's literature in Albania and emphasizes the importance of developing comparative studies that contribute to literary criticism as well as to the evolution of Albanian translation practices.
