Interview with students participating in the "International Student Scientific Conference"

The University of Tirana organized the "International Student Scientific Conference", for the first time of this size, with the participation of 295 students and researchers from 29 public and private institutions, where a total of 128 studies and works from all fields were presented: linguistics, Albanianology , legal science, social science and natural science.

We are bringing the opinions of some of the young people who participated in this conference.
Ergisa Çela, second year student, bachelor program, Biotechnology branch at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Tirana.
What topic did you choose to do your paper?
Our group consisting of me, Deni Maçkiq, Eva Durro and Elissa Ymeri chose to be part of this conference with the topic "The role of epigenetics in the occurrence of Type 2 Diabetes."
Why did you choose this topic and why did you choose to devote yourself to research?
Seeing the statistics on the increasing prevalence of this disease, especially in recent years, the interest to find out more about the factors that affect it was high. This is also due to the fact that as a student of biotechnology, with an interest focused on medical biotechnology for the continuity of studies, this research would serve us why not as a basis to provide a solution in the future.
How difficult is it today to deal with studies or scientific research?
In fact, I believe that the answer to this question is not for us to give, since our work was not a real scientific research done by us, but an analysis of several studies that would help us come to a conclusion that could integrate it later in other research.
One of the problems we mentioned during our reference is related to the limited opportunities given to students of the bachelor program to be an active part of scientific research, even though this is of great importance for our formation as biotechnologists. I believe it is important to work to find a solution in this regard for those students, like me, like us, who are passionate about being involved in scientific research.
A message to other young people?
I would suggest to all young people who have the desire and vision to do great things, to engage more in the process of scientific research, as well as to use the spaces that are given to them to speak and be heard, just like this conference which during these two days spoke with the voice of the students. In conclusion, perhaps the opportunities given are not the best possible, but let this conference and others to follow serve as a catalyst for change, because it is we, the students, who can bring about innovation and advancement. .
