The creation of research centers in higher education institutions in the countries of the Western Balkans will also enable the creation of a network for research and education in the region and in the EU.
Cooperation with the business world is another important objective of the project, as an essential pillar for achieving Sustainable Development. Therefore, within the framework of the project, a cooperation platform will be created between the university, businesses and the government to achieve the objectives of Sustainable Development. The 1Future platform will be an open structure, which will allow information and communication to flow freely between all actors involved in it. As an innovative mechanism, it will serve as a tool for virtual communication between students and staff on the one hand and the business sector on the other. The platform features will enable participants to send and receive feedback on various ideas, projects, research proposals, case studies, etc. The platform will also be used for teaching and research purposes by staff and doctoral students in higher education institutions in Western Balkan countries.
The project will also focus on building capacities for teaching in subjects related to sustainable development. The staff of the partner Universities of the Western Balkans will have the opportunity to attend trainings at the EU Universities on climate-related topics as well as on teaching methodologies. After the training, the academic staff of the Universities in Albania and the countries of the Western Balkans will be able to implement new teaching methods in the existing courses related to sustainability as well as develop teaching materials.
In addition, within the framework of this project, intensive courses will be offered for professionals engaged in the design, implementation and support of policies for adaptation and mitigation of climate change, employed in central, regional and local government institutions, non-profit organizations or for business representatives interested in improving their skills in a variety of areas related to climate change.
