On January 28, 2021, the "Kadare in World Letters" Conference was held at the Rectorate of the University of Tirana, in honor of the writer Ismail Kadare, on the 85th anniversary of his birth.
The Minister of Culture, Mrs. Elva Margariti, UT Rector, Prof. Dr. Artan Hoxha, Director of KKLL, Alda Bardhyli, Academician Vasil Tole, Publisher of Kadare's work, Mr. Bujar Hudhri, writers, researchers and professors.
In his welcoming speech, the Rector of the University of Tirana, Prof. Dr. Artan Hoxha said, among other things, that: "In our university, Kadare's work is a vision of how the university should be perfected, should think, convey commitment to improving the quality of life and cultural emancipation."
The Rector also pointed out that "at the heart of the pantheon of great personalities of culture, literature, science, politics, whom the University of Tirana has honored with the title of Doctor Honoris Causa, such as: Orhan Pamuk, Alain Bosquet, Vedat Kokona, Ferid Murat, Romano Prodi, Ibrahim Rugova, Dritëro Agolli, Francesko Altimari, Matteo Mandala, Lucia Nadini, Marie Royce, etc..., there is also Ismail Kadare, who alone gives more shine to this pantheon, which inspires us with words and the universal value of thought".
In the conference, the lecturers of the Faculty of History and Philology of the University of Tirana also referred their statements about the literary and linguistic aspects of the work of Ismail Kadare: Prof. Assoc. Lili Sula, Prof. Assoc. Viola Isufaj, Prof. Dr. Mimosa Korea, Prof. Assoc. Kristaq Jorgo, Dr. Elsa Skenderi Rakipllari etc.
