The project will introduce an innovative and cross-disciplinary approach to education through a 6-month online non-degree program in Environmental Communication.

Project objectives:

  • To develop environmental communication professionals who can promote environmentally and climate conscious choices to individuals and social groups;
  • To create a new flexible and cross-disciplinary model in a virtual environment that enables lifelong learning and validation of micro-credentials in environmental and communication education in the region.

The project will develop EVENTS like below:

  • the training of trainers and the development of the curriculum for environmental communication,
  • creating ten online educational tutorials and learning games,
  • development of a learning management system and a mobile application for collaborative online learning of students from five countries,
  • online courses and one hackathon for solving environmental problems,
  • drafting a Guide to Excellence in Environmental Communication and multiple events.

Students will be able to obtain a certificate and ECTS credits.

Project results:

  • Strengthening the skills of 100 students and 20 professors in environmental communication and community engagement for environmentally friendly policies and people-to-people change;
  • 15 student campaign plans for solving environmental problems in the region developed by the end of the program;
  • A guide to excellence in environmental communication published in six languages ​​and promoted in the five project countries, and more widely through European and international networks of partner HEIs;
  • Civil and social responsibility of students and lecturers reinforced, reflected as changes in their attitudes and/or behavior, or as encouragement of others to do so.

The project will introduce innovations in the educational programming of partner HEIs, through environmental communication as a new discipline and the use of technology for education on environmental sustainability; will increase the understanding of environmental communication and its importance in different sectors and aspects of society; will open a new field of research and employment opportunities for lecturers and students in the region considering the need for environmental communication in society. In the long term, the program has the potential to develop into a Regional Center for Environmental Communications that will serve as a center for training and research, organizing conferences and other events.
