With deep sadness, we announce the death of Professor Artan Boriçi, lecturer at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Tirana.
Prof. Artan Boriçi worked for almost 25 years as a lecturer in the Department of Physics of this faculty. In 1996, he received the degree of Doctor of Mathematical Sciences at ETH, Zurich, Switzerland, since 2010 he held the title "Professor Doctor" and in 2020 he became a member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Albania.
Prof. Boriçi is known in the scientific world with the lattice field theory for "Boriçi-Creutz fermions". Also, Prof. Artan Boriçi collaborated closely with scientific institutions such as the Academy of Sciences of Albania and with other prestigious institutions such as the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (for proposing the Nobel Prizes in Physics), the European Nuclear Research Center CERN, the Center for Intensive Computing in Jylih Germany etc.
Together with these institutions and outstanding personalities of world physics and mathematics, he has participated in the organization of international conferences inside and outside the country, duly representing the Albanian scientific thought and making valuable contributions in these fields.
