With the prestigious initiative of the European Commission, the University of Tirana is now officially part of the European University Alliances.

 

With the prestigious initiative of the European Commission, the University of Tirana is now officially part of the European University Alliances.

After the call announced within the "European Universities 2024 Erasmus+ initiative", for the creation of European University Alliances (European Commission's flagship project for universities and higher education institutions in Europe), 56 projects applied, among which 14 won, including 130 institutions. of higher education. The 14 winning projects will be financially supported by the European Commission to create and develop their own Alliance of European Universities.

The University of Tirana announces that the Alliance in which it is a full member - UNINOVIS - Data for LIFE - and which aims to create the first European university in data science, was declared the winner and ranked second with a very high rating high (94/100 points) from the European Commission.

The alliance, in which the University of Tirana is a part, consists of 7 partners with full rights:

University of Tirana (UT), Albania;

Sorbonne University Paris Nord (USPN), Paris, France;

Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK), Finland;

University of Applied Sciences, Würzburg-Schëeinfurt (THWS), Germany;

University of Malaga (UMA), Spain;

University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli" (UDCLV), Italy;

Kaunas University of Applied Sciences (KK), Lithuania.

 

Also, 60 associated partners are included in this Alliance, such as several other higher education institutions from different countries, such as: Austria, the Netherlands, Ukraine, etc., central and local governing authorities, as well as enterprises and non-governmental organizations. from all participating countries of the Alliance (France, Finland, Italy, Germany, Spain, Lithuania and Albania).

Being part of UNINOVIS, the University of Tirana is also part of a prestigious European university network that aims to:

  • to establish a joint long-term strategy for higher education in the service of society, which is related to research and innovation;
  • to build the European inter-university campus for students and academic staff members to study and work in different European countries, in different languages ​​and in all academic sectors and disciplines related to data science;
  • to create interdisciplinary European knowledge creation teams with their own innovation ecosystem to help tackle current and future societal challenges.

 

UNINOVIS will create bridges of cooperation between faculties, departments, academic staff and students, offering multiple opportunities (physical and virtual) for their mobility, as well as more innovative teaching based on interdisciplinary approaches and design more programs of common to understand, analyze, use, manage and store data in all areas of use (starting with software micro-credentials up to doctoral studies).

The University Alliance UNINOVIS Data for LIFE will not only be of value to the participating universities, but also a powerful tool to highlight the needs of each of them, as well as to solve the challenges faced by every European university: through innovative models of higher education, strengthening cooperation between them, putting new initiatives into practice and creating a wide international network. 

UNINOVIS will be an opportunity and a new window for all higher education institutions to achieve one of the main objectives: to create a leading university in the field of data, so that UT students, young Albanians and those from the region, as well as academic staff, to be part of internationally recognized universities.

Within the framework of the implementation of this major project, on July 3, 2024, the Rector of UT, Prof. Dr. Artan Hoxha and the rectors of the partner universities held the first meeting at the University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli", in Naples, where they discussed the beginning and progress of the work of the Alliance.
