Abstract (Albanian): This doctoral thesis examines terminology features in technical English.
and the strategies that influence its acquisition by engineering students. Analysis
deals with the formation of terms in morphological, syntactic and semantic aspects and
other aspects such as polysemy. This paper emphasizes engineering terminology
mechanical and constructional in the framework of applied linguistics in education, that is, in
teaching/learning English for Specific Purposes. The review of terms has
served as a basis for building diverse didactic activities such as projects, videos,
translations, conceptual schemes, games, etc.
Questionnaires, observations, and surveys were used to assess the effectiveness of these activities.
analysis of student tests, etc. Further, a discussion with specialists in the fields
engineering has been carried out to compile a terminology dictionary. The innovation is also the analysis
of metaphors in terminology and the impact of audiovisual materials on learning
technical terms.
The findings propose an integrated model for teaching/learning terminology.
technical, combining terminological research with contemporary approaches to teaching
English for Specific Purposes, in order for students to gain independence and
lifelong learning as they will work with technical language both in the context of
both academically and professionally.

Abstract (English):  This doctoral thesis delves into some features of technical English
terminology and the strategies that influence its acquisition by engineering students.
The analysis deals with term formation regarding aspects such as morphology, syntax,
semantics and other semantic features such as polysemy. This scholarly research
focuses mainly on mechanical and civil engineering terminology in the framework of
applied linguistics in education, that is, in teaching/learning English for Specific
Purposes. The review of terms has served as a basis for the construction of various
didactic activities such as projects, videos, translation, conceptual schemes, games,
etc.
Questionnaires, observations, and analysis of students' tests were employed to assess
the effectiveness of these activities. In addition, a discussion with specialists in the field of
engineering was held to create a glossary of terms. A special contribution of the study
is the analysis of metaphors in terminology and the impact of audiovisual materials on
the learning of technical terms.
The results propose an integrated model for teaching/learning technical terminology,
combining terminological research with contemporary approaches to teaching English
for specific purposes to enable students to become lifelong independent learners who
will use technical language in both academic and professional contexts.
