Today, the Faculty of Foreign Languages welcomed first-year students and officially opened the new academic year at the University of Tirana.
On this special day, the Deanship Prof. Dr. Esmeralda Kromidha and the Rector of the University of Tirana Prof. Dr. Artan Hoxha shared their congratulations and messages for the students and spoke with the media about the challenges and objectives of this academic year.
Prof. Dr. Esmeralda Kromidha, during her welcoming speech, stated that: "Our programs offer numerous opportunities to develop as translators, teachers, intercultural mediators, and international relations specialists. By the end of the third year, you will be fluent in three foreign languages and will have explored cultures, professional perspectives, and networks that will open doors for you at home and abroad."

"The Faculty of Foreign Languages has a higher interest in registrations this year, indicating the market need for specialists in this field. Today we wish all new students who are starting their studies, but also those who continue their academic journey, a year full of knowledge, challenges and achievements. The University of Tirana remains the largest and most important institution of higher education in the country and aims to educate skilled specialists, responsible citizens and professionals prepared for the national and European market," he said in his speech. This academic year brings more opportunities for international exchanges, including the Erasmus+ program and the increase in double degrees, giving students new career and employment opportunities at home and abroad.
Meanwhile, at the end of the student welcome, the Rector held a press conference with the media. where he emphasized the high interest of graduates in the programs of the University of Tirana and announced that:
-So far, 72% of students have registered according to the approved quotas;
– There are still 1289 free quotas in several faculties, while a total of 3192 new students have registered;
– The Faculty of Law currently has 50 vacancies, the Faculty of Economics 71 vacancies free, while some teaching programs are remaining at a lower enrollment rate;
– Students who have not applied in the previous stages can register directly at the teaching secretariats if there are vacancies.
The Rector also emphasized the importance of educating the younger generations as skilled specialists for the labor market, responsible citizens and prepared for the challenges of European integration.
