Press release of the University of Tirana

Today the news was released in the media that the University of Tirana will hold elections for authorities and members of the Academic Senate of UT, this was informed to the media by a group of people, who are actually former members of the Institutional Election Commission (IEC) in University of Tirana.

We clarify for the media and the entire public opinion that the action carried out by these people who are in fact academic personnel of the University of Tirana, is an unprecedented action, completely in violation of the Higher Education Law 80/2015, of the Regulation "For the organization of elections for the authorities and the Academic Senate at the University of Tirana", already approved by the Academic Senate of the University of Tirana, and also published on the official UT website, www.unitir.edu.al, with which everyone can get to know in order to better understand the legal violations of the persons in question.

Rector of the University of Tirana Prof. Dr. Mynyr Koni through this press statement assures the academic staff and students of UT that in the University of Tirana, fair elections will be held very soon, with legal procedures, in order to elect leading authorities and members of the Academic Senate of the University of Tirana.
