MAGNA CHARTA OBSERVATORY
MAGNA CHARTA OBSERVATORY is an international organization that was created to support and defend the fundamental principles of universities, contained in the Magna Charta Universitatum, a document originally signed in Bologna in 1988 by the rectors of European universities. This document represents a commitment to academic independence, freedom of research and teaching, and the role of universities in the service of society.
The main objectives of the OBSERVATORY MAGNA CHARTA are:
- To defend the fundamental principles of the Magna Charta Universitatum on university autonomy and academic freedom;
- To promote the compliance of universities with the highest standards of academic integrity and ethics;
- To monitor challenges and developments related to higher education and scientific research at the global level;
- To promote international dialogue and cooperation between universities on common issues affecting higher education;
- To provide support to universities in strengthening their institutional and academic capacities.
The University of Tirana is a signatory of the Magna Charta Universitatum and part of the Magna Charta Observatory, contributing to the preservation and promotion of the fundamental principles of higher education. Through this commitment, the UT strengthens its academic identity, affirms academic independence and freedom, and increases cooperation with universities from around the world that share the same values.
