Title: Improvement of the infrastructure of Chemical Engineering Laboratories with computer infrastructure for simulation and optimization as well as for experimental pilot plants for the teaching process and scientific research

Reference: Decision No. 2., AKKSHI Board, date 08.08.2019

funders: AKKSHI within the "Pact for the University"

Duration: 12 months

Project objectives are:

  • Strengthening some of the most important processes in the professional formation of chemical process engineering students;
  • Improving the infrastructure of chemical engineering laboratories with experimental pilot plants for the research process and scientific research

Specific objectives:

  • Ordering equipment with clear specifications according to the relevant profiles
  • Supply and commissioning with demonstration by the tillage company along with staff training assistance;
  • Conducting group tests and trials with students and faculty members of the department's staff

Expected results:

  • To increase the number of jobs with specialized computers for modeling, simulation and optimization of processes because currently 3-4 people work with one computer;
  • The quality of teaching will increase through the use of equipment that guarantees the quality of experiments, as students will try their hands at maneuvering industrial processes, as well as participate in national and international conferences;

beneficiaries from this project are expected to be:

  • Students of the study programs of the Department of Industrial Chemistry for Masters in Chemical Process Engineering as well as students of the Industrial and Food Chemistry study programs;
  • Educators covering relevant teaching disciplines in increasing their specialization and improving teaching methodologies

The final results of the project aim to transform into a start-up especially related to the application for the accreditation of the Chemical Engineering Laboratory, offering services to third parties, increasing the possibility of participating in international projects in the region or the EU.
