Jean Monnet - UNIVERSITY OF TIRANA

Jean Monnet

Jean Monnet Actions are co-financed within the Erasmus + Program.

The European Commission launched the Jean Monnet Actions to promote excellence in teaching and research in the field of European studies worldwide.

The Jean Monnet Module is a short learning program (or course) in the field of European Union studies at a higher education institution. Each module has a minimum duration of 40 teaching hours per academic year and must focus on a particular discipline in European studies or be multidisciplinary requiring the academic contribution of several professors and experts.

Jean Monnet Chairs are teaching positions specializing in European Union studies practiced by university professors. They aim to deepen teaching in EU studies embodied in the official curriculum of a HEI; offer in-depth lessons on EU issues in areas increasingly in demand in the labor market.

Jean Monnet Centers of Excellence are proposed and hosted by a HEI and may involve the collaboration of several faculties/departments or even other organizations specialized in EU studies. They are key points of competence and knowledge on European Union topics; bring together the expertise and competences of high-level experts aiming to develop synergies between different disciplines and resources in European studies. They also give experts the opportunity to create joint international activities.

In this aspect, the project contributes as a facilitator for the construction and distribution of theoretical and practical knowledge regarding the EU membership process. The overall objective is to build capacities and bridges of communication and dialogue between different groups of society (firstly academia, policy makers and members of the negotiating team, civil society, interest groups, etc.), increasing their capacities and knowledge for process and raising awareness of the key components of the process and some of the best practices on how to move forward together.

By redesigning and adapting the curricula of the Master's courses and organizing several thematic seminars and workshops, with the participation of students, members of the negotiating team, prominent experts and researchers, and other interested parties, the project aims to achieve a more effective involvement and greater ownership of the process by local stakeholders.
