The University of Tirana is the largest and oldest university in the Republic of Albania. It stands out among all other public and non-public universities, offering study programs in the fields of Natural Sciences, Philological and Educational Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Economic Sciences. The programs are organized in three consecutive cycles: first cycle; second cycle and third cycle.

Also, the University of Tirana stands out for the number of study programs (164 programs in all three levels), diversity (programs in natural sciences, economics, law, philology, foreign languages ​​and social sciences), the uniqueness of specialization and qualification faculties (most of the study programs in the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Foreign Languages ​​and History and Philology, mainly at the master's and doctoral levels).

One of the goals of the University of Tirana is its international recognition. UT is a partner institution in several cooperation programs of the European Commission such as: Tempus, Erasmus Mundus Action 2, IPA, more specifically: JoinEU-SEE, Basileus, Pacinno, Eureqa, Tempus Interface. All UT structures, students, academic and administrative staff have benefited from ERASMUS + mobility projects.

UT has also signed many cooperation agreements with various European and world universities and institutions. These framework agreements aim at academic and student exchange, joint research programs, academic exchanges in publications, journals, organization of various conferences, etc. It is also a member of many networking foreign ones like: UNINOVIS, UNIADRION, EUA, UNICA,MCU,BUA , etc..

ORGANIZATION OF STUDIES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TIRANA

University studies

In accordance with the legal provisions, the forms of study offered by the main units of the University of Tirana are:

a) full-time studies;

b) long-term studies;

Organization of full-time university studies

Study programs at UT are organized in three consecutive cycles:

a) the first cycle;

b) the second cycle;

c) the third cycle.

In special fields, the University of Tirana offers integrated programs of first and second cycle studies together, which are realized with no less than 300 credits and their normal duration is no less than five academic years.

Study programs in the first cycle

First-cycle study programs aim to provide basic knowledge of general scientific methods and principles and certain skills in a wide variety of professions and specialties.

1. The first cycle study programs at the University of Tirana are realized, as a rule, with 180 European credits (ECTS) and their normal duration is 3 academic years.
2. Students in this program, based on the criteria established in the UT regulation for the average grade, can graduate with a general final exam or thesis.
3. At the end of the study programs of the first cycle, a "Bachelor" university diploma is issued in the field of completed education.

Integrated second cycle study programs

Integrated study programs in the second cycle are organized with 300 credits and a normal duration of (5) five academic years. This study program is offered in the field of Law, "Master of Science" in "Law"

Study program "Master of Science"

1. 1. 1. Study programs of the second cycle in "Master of Science" equip graduates who hold a university degree "Bachelor", with in-depth theoretical and practical scientific knowledge in the relevant direction.
      2. This program can be completed with 120 credits with a normal duration of no less than two academic years. This includes 30-40 credits for a research project, under qualified guidance, which ends with a diploma (microthesis). At the end of the second cycle study program, a university diploma is issued "Master of Science" in the field of completed education.
      3. The study program can also be realized as an integrated study program of the second cycle, with 300 credits and with a normal duration of five academic years. This study program is offered in law, as well as in other areas defined by the bylaws. Studies in this program are concluded with a thesis and students are provided with a diploma integrated in the field of education completed.
