Rector of the University of Tirana, Prof. Dr. Artan Hoxha, participated in the round table on the topic "The future of Vjosa, Dams vs National Park". Present at this meeting were national and international scientists and high-level policy makers.
During his speech, the Rector emphasized the important role that higher education institutions should play in environmental issues, as institutions where future politicians, researchers, engineers and planners are educated, who decide the direction of human development. Universities, as research institutions should lead in the promotion of environmental balance, identifying problems and suggesting solutions for society to be oriented in the right direction and to achieve sustainable development.
Prof. Dr. Artan Hoxha emphasized that the University of Tirana is committed to contribute with concrete studies regarding the approximation of our legislation to the European one, also because water administration is one of the areas that has the most extensive regulation.
The University of Tirana supports debates with scientific value and importance for the development of the country in the sustainable use of natural resources and their protection.
