The Re@WBC project had as its main objective the contribution to the increase of the research potential for scientific researchers in the universities of the Western Balkans in accordance with the national strategies and those of the European Union. In fulfillment of this objective, various activities were carried out to improve the procedures and practices for the management of research workers in the partner universities.
A continuous process of training and informing new research workers was aimed at promoting professional growth and creating opportunities for them. The fulfillment of this was achieved through a set of university legal acts in accordance with the management of the potential of research workers and scientific research, as well as an increase in the professional level of research workers through various trainings.
The work focused on:
- Improving policies and practices for scientific research by harmonizing them with European standards and strategies for research workers;
- Enhancing career development and creating opportunities for researchers through improving transferable skills;
- Promoting regional cooperation to harmonize the potentials of research workers and for further awareness of the principles of scientific research.
For the realization of the above objectives, a series of activities were undertaken, starting from the preparation or improvement of a series of by-laws and essential documents related to scientific research, as well as through various trainings. Trainings were carried out for administrative staff, research workers and new lecturers.
The three-year work for the realization of the project was divided into 6 packages, which in themselves included a number of issues such as:
- University management;
- Creation and adaptation of a series of laws;
- Trainings for administrative and academic staff;
- Improvement of procedures for ethics commissions;
- Trainings for scientific research methodology;
- Preparation of quality reports;
- Continuous reporting throughout the process;
- Development of standards, discussions and assessments;
The project was scheduled to close on October 14, 2018, but was postponed until April 14, 2019, in order to allow some of the universities to meet the set targets.
During the 6-month period, relevant reports were sent for a number of project objectives related to academic promotion procedures, ethics council procedures and cooperation with the scientific diaspora.
In fulfillment of the objectives of the project, the procedures for the piloting of the academic career counseling system were started at the Faculty of Foreign Languages.
