The Senate is the highest academic collegial body of UT, responsible for fulfilling its mission. The Academic Senate is chaired by the Rector and meets periodically.
Members of the Academic Senate, representatives of the academic staff, are elected by majority vote from the assemblies of the academic staff of the relevant main units, through a general vote. They are elected for a four-year term, with the right to re-election, from among full-time, self-nominated academic staff members. Members of the Academic Senate, student representatives, are elected by the students. Only those citizens who are students at the University of Tirana at the moment of their election can be student representatives. Members of the Academic Senate are elected in accordance with the Election Regulations of the University of Tirana.
