University of Tirana students at an intercultural conference in Germany!
A group of Master of Science students in Intercultural and Tourism Communication (trilingual), from the Faculty of Foreign Languages, University of Tirana, participated in an intercultural conference held in Eberswalde, Germany, with a focus on sustainable tourism and international academic cooperation. The conference is titled “Between protection and use – the future of sustainable tourism in Albania”, and is organized within the framework of a joint research project between the University of Tirana and the University for Sustainable Development (HNEE).
Our students have been working for months, since December, to prepare and organize this conference, where research studies were presented in areas such as:
🔹 Preservation of cultural heritage
🔹 Eco-tourism and nature-based solutions
🔹 Tourism marketing and stakeholder involvement
🔹 Infrastructure
A representative from the Albanian Embassy in Berlin also participated in this conference, which welcomed the initiative and emphasized the importance of academic exchanges in the function of sustainable development.
The activity opened with the welcoming speech of Prof. Dr. Anila Paparisto, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research, Projects and International Cooperation at the University of Tirana, who praised the cooperation with HNEE as a fruitful model of internationalization and strengthening the role of students in applied research.
The conference was led by an international academic team consisting of:
• Prof. Dr. Esmeralda Kromidha, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, UT,
• Dr. Drita Rira, Deputy Dean and Academic Coordinator Erasmus+, UT,
• Prof. Dr. Claudia Brözel, Director of the Master's Program in Sustainable Tourism Management, HNEE.
Through this collaboration, students had the opportunity to engage in practical research with real impact, develop intercultural and multilingual competencies, and contribute to debates on tourism development in a more inclusive and sustainable way.
This project constitutes a clear example of the orientation of the University of Tirana towards the internationalization of higher education and the promotion of academic partnerships that connect scientific research with the concrete needs of society.
