Rector of the University of Tirana, Prof. Dr. Artan Hoxha, together with Deputy Rector for Foreign Relations, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Bernard Dosti, participated in the meeting of the Executive Committee of BUA (Association of Balkan Universities), which took place at the University of Trakya, Edirne, Turkey, on February 5-6, 2024. The University of Tirana this year holds the presidency of this association . The meeting brought together the highest authorities of the member universities, who discussed the activity of the association, its initiatives, new memberships, and the next Conference, which will be organized by the University of Tirana, in June 2024.
In the framework of the intensification of international cooperation, in this activity, the renewal of the cooperation agreement between the University of Tirana and the University of Trakya was signed, with a duration of five years, which aims at cooperation in the academic field, related to the exchange of personnel and students, participation in joint research projects, scientific conferences, academic seminars and symposiums, short-term academic programs, as well as the organization of activities in areas of common interest.
The Balkan University Association (BUA) was founded in 2014 in Edirne, Turkey and the main goal is to define a leading vision for the future through universities, libraries, research centers in the Balkan region on the basis of shared global values, taking into account the needs of the time. In addition, it aims to create a scientific network in the field of language, culture, art, history, economy, education and sports, as well as carrying out collaborative scientific works. A total of 92 universities belong to this association, of which 11 universities from Albania, 7 from Bosnia and Herzegovina, 19 from Bulgaria, 3 from Croatia, 2 from Montenegro, 5 from Macedonia, 11 from Kosovo, 5 from Romania , 1 from Serbia, 17 from Turkey and 11 from Greece. UT's membership in BUA was realized in 2018.
