Programs: HORIZON EUROPE
Project start date: September 1, 2022
Duration of the project: 36 months
Project coordinator: University of Tirana.
Partners:
- Fundació Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia,
- Palackého University in Olomouc;
- Intelligentsia Consultants Sàrl.
The main purpose of the SUSNANO project is to increase the scientific level and innovative capacity for the preparation of sustainable nanosensors for the determination of water pollution by the University of Tirana (UT) through twinning with highly qualified partners in the field.
To achieve this, the SUSNANO project will implement a research and innovation strategy over a 3-year period based on the following objectives:
- Conducting scientific research on sustainable nanosensors to detect water pollution in Albania by developing innovative sustainable nanosensors for the detection of heavy metals, pesticides and antibiotics. The prepared sensors will be tested on real samples to provide an environmental assessment of rivers and lakes in Albania regarding these pollutions.
- Exchange of knowledge between experienced researchers of the University of Tirana and the most specialized partners of the project. This will be realized through the organization of short-term staff exchanges, trainings and seminars to enable the realization of the anticipated scientific research.
- Expanding the career prospects of the younger researchers of the University of Tirana and the project partners. This will be done through the organization of short and medium-term exchanges, seminars and trainings, summer schools and joint doctoral programs.
- Improving the management capacity and administrative capacity of UT in relation to European research and development programs. This will aim to improve the capabilities of the Directorate of Scientific Research, Projects and External Relations of UT for preparation, project management and innovation management for European R&D funding programs.
- Raising the research profile of UT and project partners. The aim is to increase the research profile and scientific reputation of UT and the project partners through a series of comprehensive activities, communication and information.
