The signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between the University of Tirana and the Ministry of Justice took place today at the premises of the Rectorate of the University of Tirana, which aims to train and qualify official translators in order to fulfill legal requirements and support the process of Albania's integration into the European Union.
The Rector of the University of Tirana, Prof. Dr. Artan Hoxha, emphasized the importance of this institutional cooperation which, in addition to its broad character, focuses on one essential aspect: the professional training of official translators in Albanian and foreign languages.
"UT has the necessary capacities to contribute in this direction through its two leading faculties: the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Faculty of History and Philology. This cooperation is one of the services that the university offers to third parties and a concrete form of support given to Albanian society in the main challenges it faces", - said Rector Hoxha.
For his part, the Minister of Justice, Mr. Ulsi Manja, praised this agreement as a significant step towards improving the quality of translations and linguistic editing of official acts.
"The law on the official translator, adopted in 2021, has encountered difficulties in implementation, but today we are at the right moment to implement it with the help of a reliable institution like UT. This agreement is a direct contribution to the integration process and directly affects the reputation of the Albanian state in Brussels", - emphasized Minister Manja.
Official legal translators serve for the translation of legal documents, in exchanges between international institutions and governments and partner investigation and trial structures, but also for the translation of numerous legal and administrative practices for legal compliance, in the context of negotiations with the EU.
