The University of Tirana towards a regional role in the training of interpreters!

In a meeting held at the Rectorate, the Rector of the University of Tirana, Prof. Dr. Artan Hoxha, hosted the Deputy Director of the Directorate-General for Interpretation of the European Commission, Mr. Colin Scicluna, where an ambitious vision for the future of the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​was discussed.

Discussions focused on transforming the University of Tirana into a regional center for the Western Balkans in the field of translation and interpretation, through advanced programs, summer schools, and the direct involvement of European experts.

A key element was the idea of ​​establishing a "Center of Excellence", which will combine modern infrastructure, scientific research and professional training according to European Union standards.

The meeting also emphasized connecting with the European labor market, preparing students for real recruitment processes, and increasing the presence of the Albanian language in international institutions.

This collaboration aims to build a sustainable 5–10-year development platform, positioning the University of Tirana as an important actor on the European academic map.
