The University of Tirana participates in the International COST Project Action CA21107 DIGI-net: Inequalities in employment in older age groups redefined by digitalization
The University of Tirana is part of the prestigious international network DIGI-net coordinated by Mendel University in Brno, which focuses on the impact of digitalization on labor market inequalities in older age groups. European labor markets are undergoing a digital revolution – reshaped by information technology, robotics, artificial intelligence and automation. However, significant differences remain in the level of digitalization across Europe. At the same time, the proportion of workers aged 50+ who stay in the labor force longer than before is increasing. How digitalization affects older workers is not yet clearly understood, which is why DIGI-net addresses this complex issue.
The main aim of COST Action CA21107 is to overcome critical gaps in conceptual innovation and bridge the gap between academic research and policymaking, in order to better address the labour inequalities redefined by digitalisation.
The project brings together more than 400 researchers from 44 countries worldwide. It is led by Prof. Martina Rašticová from Mendel University in Brno (CA21107 Project Leader) and Prof. Petia Genkova from Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences (CA21107 Deputy Project Leader). The main activities include the organization of at least three international events per year (including steering committee meetings, training schools and policy workshops), the support of short-term scientific missions and the award of grants for independent research and participation in conferences. The outputs include scientific publications, policy briefs and the preparation of two open access monographs.
The research is conducted in five working groups focused on digitalization and inequalities, organizational culture in relation to age, health of older workers, policy development and implementation, and working with social, corporate and news media. The initiative also features a Forum of Young Researchers and Innovators and a Reference Group of Older Workers.
