The University of Tirana expresses its deep sorrow over the passing of the distinguished academic Rexhep Qosja, one of the most important figures of Albanian intellectual thought and academic life.

Rexhep Qosja was born in 1936 and throughout his life built a distinguished career as a scholar, literary critic, literary historian and essayist. He developed his academic activity mainly at the Albanological Institute of Prishtina, where he contributed for decades to scientific research and Albanological studies, standing out as one of the most authoritative voices in the field of Albanian literary history.

As the author of dozens of scholarly works, monographs and essays, he brought an in-depth and critical approach to the developments of Albanian literature and culture. Among his most well-known works are studies on Naim Frashëri and other important figures of the Albanian literary tradition, as well as thorough analyses of literary periods and movements. Through these contributions, he helped build a solid scientific basis for literary studies in the Albanian space.

His academic activity was accompanied by a constant engagement in scientific and public debates, bringing a critical, independent thought and always based on in-depth arguments. He was an important figure in the formation of entire generations of scholars, professors and students, directly influencing the development of Albanian academic thought.

His contribution to science, culture, and national affairs constitutes a precious legacy, which will continue to inspire future generations.

The University of Tirana honors his life and work with special respect, valuing him as one of the most distinguished personalities of the Albanian academic world.
