UT, cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Local Government
The University of Tirana will cooperate with the Ministry of State for Local Government, in the common interest of both institutions. The cooperation was formalized by an agreement signed by the Rector of UT, Prof. Dr. Artan Hoxha and the Minister of State for Local Government, Mr. Arbjan Mazniku.
This agreement aims at institutional cooperation, the undertaking of legislative initiatives that may prove necessary, the realization of joint innovative projects, the professional development of local administration personnel and the creation of opportunities for students of the University of Tirana to carry out teaching and employment practices, near the local government units.
The cooperation will mainly focus on the realization of the following activities, such as:
a. The support of the Minister of State for Local Government and local self-government bodies, to enable the realization of teaching practices and employment, with the aim of gaining practical knowledge from students of the University of Tirana, on the activity of public administration at the local level and the most successful ways of cooperation between the central and local governments;
b. Realization of joint innovative projects related to the field of activity, of both parties in the agreement and realization of seminars, lectures, conferences, courses for increasing qualification and professional skills on matters of common interest;
c. The undertaking of joint legislative initiatives, at a technical level, including the engagement of UT academic staff in providing expertise related to legislative initiatives initiated by the Minister of State for Local Government, within his area of state responsibility;
d. The establishment of joint working groups for the design of strategies of common interest;
e. The creation of a research/innovative group at the UT with a focus on local government issues, which will enable the provision of expertise at a technical level, when requested by the Minister of State for Local Government and local self-government bodies, with his approval.
