Mr. Michael Pompeo, "Doctor Honoris Causa" of the University of Tirana.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Albania-USA relations, the University of Tirana, with the decision of the Academic Senate and the approval of the Minister of Education and Sports, granted the title "Doctor Honoris Causa" to Mr. Michael Richard POMPEO. 

The University of Tirana honors the former US Secretary of State Mr. Mike Pompeo with the high title "Doctor Honoris Causa" with the motivation: "As a man who embodies high features of the values ​​of freedom and democracy that inspire Albanian youth, students, teachers and scientific researchers, who aspire to fulfill these values ". 

In his speech, the rector of the University of Tirana Prof. Dr. Artan Hoxha said that this title is an appreciation given to Mr. Pompeo, former US Secretary of State, but at the same time his acceptance increases the prestige of the University of Tirana by honoring an important world figure. 

Among other things, Pompeo said: "We, Albania and the United States of America, have had moments where we have done good things, but we have not always succeeded, but by protecting our rights, we managed to make the countries be good friends, since we have realized that we must devote ourselves to implementing the rule of law, and thus we will have peace throughout the world. It is a great honor for me to receive such a special evaluation from a special country like Albania and the University of Tirana"
