On March 12, 2018, the University of Tirana Rector, Prof. Dr. Mynyr Koni met with the Turkish Ambassador to Tirana, Mr. Murat Ahmet Yoruk. During the meeting, the Rector and the Ambassador discussed about the excellent cooperation between the University of Tirana and Turkish universities in the framework and view of the outstanding relations between the two countries.

The Ambassador announced that the Turkish state has decided to include Albanian as an elective subject in all high schools of the country. During the meeting, the Turkish Ambassador requested the conclusion of a bilateral agreement with the Trakya University, which is the only university in Turkey that includes the Albanian Language department in its structure.

In addition, Ambassador Yoruk stated the intention to provide support through academic staff and infrastructure to develop Turkish language programs that would enable further scientific research to be carried out at the University of Tirana in this regard.
