The University of Tirana Rector Prof. Dr. Mynyr Koni attended the 4th Scientific Conference of the Balkan Universities Association hosted by the University of Tetovo in North Macedonia on March 30-31, 2018.

The Conference was held under the theme “Collaboration Between Universities and Cultural Coexistence – a premise for a sustainable platform in the overall Balkan area”. The conference was attended by the President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia Mr. Talat Xhaferri, North Macedonian Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Mr. Arbër Ademi, rectors and numerous scientific researchers from all Balkan Universities.

During his speech at the opening ceremony, the University of Tirana Rector, Prof. Dr. Mynyr Koni emphasized the significance and responsibility of universities toward society.

“As university representatives, we carry a great burden of responsibility with regard to what we will pass down to future generations in the Balkans. Universities are not simply the buildings where students study, nor are they just the laboratories. Universities are a crucial component of all societies, affecting every aspect of life” stated the UoT Rector in his speech.

Furthermore, at the conclusion of the Conference, the University of Tirana was made a full member of the Balkan Universities Association.
