The SUSNANO project’s main purpose is to enhance the scientific level and innovative capacity to prepare sustainable nanosensors for the determination of water pollution by the University of Tirana (UT) through twinning with partners highly qualified in the area.

To achieve this, the SUSNANO project will implement a research and innovation strategy during a three-year period based on the following objectives:

  • Conducting scientific research on sustainable nanosensors to determine water pollution in Albania by developing sustainable innovative nanosensors to discover heavy metals, pesticides and antibiotics. The sensors prepared will be tested in real samples to provide an environmental evaluation of the rivers and lakes of Albania regarding these pollutions.
  • Exchange of knowledge through experiences scientific researchers of the University of Tirana and more specialized partners of the project. This will be realized through the organization of short-term staff exchanges, trainings and seminars to enable the realization of the provided scientific research.
  • Expansion of career prospects of the younger scientific researchers of the University of Tirana and project’s partners. This will be realized through the organization of short- and medium-term exchanges, seminars and trainings, summer schools and joint doctoral programs.
  • Improvement of the management and administrative capacity of the UT regarding European research and development programs. This will target the upskilling of the Directorate of Scientific Research, Projects and External Relations of the UT for project preparation and innovation management for European R&D funding programs.
  • The establishment of a research profile of the UT and project’s partners. The purpose is to increase the UT’s and project partners’ research profile and science reputationthrough a series of comprehensive communication and information activities.
