ABSTRAKTI

Ky disertacion shqyrton procesin kompleks të përkthimit poetik, duke marrë si rast studimor katër përkthime në shqip të poezisë “If—” të Rudyard Kipling nga Fan S. Noli, Vedat Kokona, Robert Shvarc dhe Ukë Zenel Buçpapaj. Nëpërmjet një qasjeje krahasuese dhe ndërdisiplinore, studimi analizon ndërthurjen e dimensioneve gjuhësore, estetike dhe kulturore që formësojnë përvojën e përkthimit poetik. Kapitujt e tij vendosin në dialog kornizat teorike kryesore të përkthimit (formalizmin, funksionalizmin, hermeneutikën, si dhe qasjet feministe e postkoloniale) me praktikat përkthimore konkrete.

Analiza tregon se çdo variant shqip i poezisë nuk është thjesht një kopje e origjinalit, por një rijetësim poetik i kushtëzuar nga konteksti estetik, ideologjik dhe historik i përkthyesit. Studimi vërteton se përkthimi i poezisë nuk duhet të shihet vetëm si transferim gjuhësor, por si një akt krijues, etik dhe kulturor, që zgjeron horizontin e lexuesit dhe pasuron letërsinë pritëse.

Ky disertacion kontribuon në fushën e studimeve përkthimore duke: (1) rikonceptuar përkthimin poetik si akt interpretimi dhe dialogu ndërkulturor; (2) ofruar një model analitik shtatëhapësh për shqyrtimin e procesit përkthimor; dhe (3) nxjerrë në pah rolin e përkthyesit si bashkautor në krijimin e një poezie të re.

ABSTRACT

This dissertation examines the complex process of poetic translation, focusing on four Albanian renderings of Rudyard Kipling’s poem “If—” by Fan S. Noli, Vedat Kokona, Robert Shvarc, and Ukë Zenel Buçpapaj. Through a comparative and interdisciplinary approach, the study analyzes the interplay of linguistic, aesthetic, and cultural dimensions that shape the practice of poetic translation. Its chapters bring into dialogue major theoretical frameworks of translation (formalism, functionalism, hermeneutics, as well as feminist and postcolonial approaches) with concrete translational practices.

The analysis demonstrates that each Albanian version of the poem is not a mere copy of the original but rather a poetic re-creation, conditioned by the translator’s aesthetic, ideological, and historical context. The study argues that poetry translation should not be seen solely as a linguistic transfer but as a creative, ethical, and cultural act that broadens the reader’s horizon and enriches the target literature.

This dissertation contributes to the field of Translation Studies by: (1) re-conceptualizing poetic translation as an act of interpretation and intercultural dialogue; (2) offering a seven-step analytical model for examining the translation process; and (3) highlighting the translator’s role as a co- creator in the making of a new poem.
